Cylinder Honing Supplies
Whether you like working on your bike yourself, or you'd prefer a professional to make adjustments and upgrades for you, Sportbikemike.com has all of your cylinder honing bases covered. If honing won't do it and you would like us to bore cylinders and supply new pistons, rings and gaskets, we are just a phone call away. If you already know your engine inside and out and are prepared to take it apart yourself, we can provide the proper supplies for what is, on the surface, a fairly simple job of metal polishing and honing.
Learn about: Valve Jobs
A cylinder honing kit normally attaches to an electric drill, and is thrust into the cylinders multiple times until the desired texture is achieved. After the honing is complete, it is important to wash away any metal dust and fragments from the cylinder that could potentially damage your engine, then apply a thin layer of motor oil to prevent oxidation.
If you'd prefer to have a professional take care of this for you, stop by our engine machine shop in Stone Park, IL. No matter the type of bike you ride, we can get the parts for it and do the necessary work to have it performing at its best.
Hone the Bore: Cylinders
What is the bore? Cylinders have a hole in the engine block for pistons, and the bore is the diameter of the cylinder hole in the engine block. Give us a call to figure out what honing tool would be best for the engine type and bore size you have at 800 319 9273.
If there are other services you need performed, ask us about those as well. We do engine overhauls, restore old bikes, or can do routine maintenance on newer bikes, including sport bikes, dirt bikes, and even ATVs. If you prefer to do service yourself, purchase parts online at Sportbikemike.com.
